NMIHACM Admission Notice – 2010

National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation & Museology (NMIHACM) is a Deemed University under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, located in the National Museum, New Delhi. The University offers specialized courses in (i) History of Art, (ii) Conservation & Restoration of Works of Art and (iii) Museology, leading to the award of M.A. and Ph.D. Degrees. It also awards eight Merit Scholarships each @ Rs.40,000/- per annum and 8 Merit-cum-Means Scholarships each @ Rs.12,000/-per annum. Applications in prescribed form (to be downloaded from www.nmi.gov.in) are invited from eligible candidates for admission to M.A. and Ph.D. courses for the academic session starting in August, 2010, as per the following eligibility criteria:
? M.A. (History of Art): Seats-25. A Graduate Degree from a recognized University. Desirable – Background in Social Sciences, Liberal Arts or Fine Arts
? M.A. (Conservation): Seats-15 A Graduate Degree in any of the following subjects-Chemistry/ Physics/ Geology/ Botany/ Zoology/ Computer Science/ Fine Arts/ History/ History of Art/ Architecture/ Archaeology/ Museology/ Designing or a Diploma recognized as equivalent to graduate degree in any of these fields.
? M.A. (Museology): Seats-15. B.A./B.Sc. (Honours) or B.A./B.Sc./B.F.A. (3 years) in any discipline under Humanities and Social Sciences/Science. Desirable – Background/ PG Diploma in subjects related to History of Art and Museum Studies.
? Ph.D. (History of Art): Seats-4. Any person holding a Master Degree in History of Art from this Institute or Master Degree in History of Art/History/Archaeology/Anthropology/Aesthetics or its equivalent from a recognized University/deemed University
? Ph.D. (Conservation): Seats-4. Any person holding a Master Degree in Conservation from this Institute or Master Degree in Chemistry/ Physics/ Life Sciences/ Museology/ Architecture or its equivalent from a recognized University/deemed University.
? Ph.D. (Museology): Seats-4. Any person holding a Master Degree in Museology from this Institute or Master Degree in Museology/ History/Ancient Indian History & Archaeology or its equivalent from a recognized University/deemed University.
Desirable Qualifications for both M.A. and Ph.D. courses: Knowledge of one classical/ foreign language such as Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Persian, Arabic, Greek, Latin, German, French, Italian, etc.

• Last date for receipt of applications for M.A. courses is 30-06-2010 and for Ph.D. courses is 31 -07-2010.

• Dates of written test for MA courses followed by Interview:

MA (History of Art) – 14-07-2010 at 10.30 am
MA (Conservation) – 15-07-2010 at 10.30 am
MA (Museology) – 16-07-2010 at 10.30 am
