NOTIFICATION FOR ADMISSION INTO MFA PROGRAMS – 2026
Applications are invited from the eligible candidates in the prescribed form for admission into the following 2-year Master of Fine Arts (MFA) programs offered at JNAFAU College of Fine Arts for the Academic Year 2026-27.

Notes:
- The candidates who have studied 3 year degree in BFA (Photography) with 3 (three) year practical experience after completion of their BFA program in Photography are eligible.
- In addition to the tuition fee, Rs.5,000/- has to be paid towards “Infrastructure Fee” every year and Rs.100/- towards “Green Fund”.
- The MFA programs will commence only if 50% of seats in each program are filled.
- All the candidates admitted into MFA program shall submit an undertaking that they are not employed full-time.
- All the candidates admitted into MFA Applied Art & Visual Communication and Photography & Media Communication shall procure / have their independent laptop at the time of admissions. The students of MFA Photography & Media Communication shall also procure a professional camera as per the specifications recommended by the Head of the Department.
II. Details of Entrance Examination
A Written Entrance Examination will be conducted for all eligible candidates. The model paper and syllabus are available on the university website. The pattern of Entrance Examination is as follows:

The minimum qualifying marks in the Written Examination will be 50% for General category, 45% for Physically Challenged and 40% for SC/ST candidates. Only those candidates who qualify in the Written Examination with the above mentioned qualifying marks will be called for interview.
Special Note for MFA (Sculpture) applicants: Candidates applying for MFA (Sculpture) have to submit Photographs (5” × 7” size, each work maximum 2 photographs) of five works done by them, attested by Head of the Department / Organization, along with the application form. This carries 20 marks and is a prerequisite for qualifying the written examination. The Merit list (Ranks) will be ascertained by calculating marks secured in both Part – 1 (Written Examination) & Part – 2 (Assessment of Works) for (30+20) = 50 Marks. Candidates qualified in Part-1 & 2 are only eligible for Interview.
III. Syllabus and Model Paper
The syllabus followed in BFA programs in JNAFAU will be the syllabus for MFA Entrance Examination. The model papers and syllabus are available on the university website www.jnafau.ac.in.
IV. Application Submission & Important Dates
The application form, eligibility, fee structure and other details are available on the University website www.jnafau.ac.in.
The filled-in application form, photocopies of relevant documents/certificates along with Demand Draft for Rs.2,000/- (Rs.1,000/- for SC/ST candidates) drawn on any nationalized bank in favour of “Registrar, JNAFAU, payable at Hyderabad” should reach the office of the Director, Admissions, Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, Masab Tank, Hyderabad – 500028 through speed post or in-person.
- Last date for submission of filled-in application (without late fee): 12-10-2026
- With late fee of Rs.2,000/- (Rs.2,000/- Late fee + Rs.2,000/- Application Fee = Total Rs.4,000/-): up to 17-10-2026

V. Examination & Interview Schedule
The date and time of Written Examination & Interviews will be made available on the university website. Candidates are advised to go through the website regularly for latest updates.
The Hall Tickets for the Written Examination will be issued two days before the Examination date at the Office of the Director, Admissions, JNAFAU. The centre for Entrance Examination will be JNAFAU campus only.
VI. Supernumerary Seats
- 5% supernumerary seats of the approved intake in each program will be meant for students of other states under National Integration Scheme (NIS) category. Admissions in this quota will be applicable only to those candidates who have completely studied outside Telangana and qualify in the MFA Entrance Examination – 2026.
- 10% supernumerary seats of the approved intake in each program will be meant for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).
VII. Other Information
- Hostel facility is currently not available.
- Admissions will be through Entrance Examination and Interview.
