Set up in 1988, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) is a scientific society of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India, carrying out Research and Development (R&D) in IT, electronics and associated areas. Different thematic areas of C-DAC’s research include high performance computing, grid and cloud computing, multilingual computing, professional electronics, software technologies, cyber security, health informatics, ubiquitous computing, and education & training.

Presently C-DAC is offering postgraduate diploma courses through its training centres located in cities such as Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Karad, Kolkata, Mohali, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nashik, New Delhi, Noida, Patna, Pune and Thiruvanantha-puram. Each year, thousands of students and professionals are trained at these centres, enhancing their knowledge-base and equipping them with the latest methodologies in advanced computing so as to make their mark in the ICT industry. So far more than a quarter million students have passed out from C-DAC. Many of them are successful employees of multi-national and premier Indian ICT companies today, and many more have become booming entrepreneurs.

List of C-DAC’s PG Diploma Courses, Fees and Eligibility Criteria
The list of CDAC’s Post Graduate Diploma courses and their eligibility criteria is given in Table 1. Details of these courses are given in Section 17 of this Admission Booklet.

C-DAC’s PG Diploma courses are full-time courses of 24-week duration. The fee for all PG Diploma courses (except PG-DBDA) is Rs. 80,000/- + Goods & Services Tax (GST) on it as applicable at the time of payments. The fee for PG Diploma in Big Data Analytics is Rs 1 lakh + GST.

Common Eligibility Criteria for all the PG Diploma Courses of C-DAC
• Graduate in Engineering or equivalent (e.g. BE / BTech / 4-year BSc Engg / AMIE / DoEACC B Level) in IT / Computer Science / Electronics / Telecommunications / Electrical / Instrumentation.
OR
• Post Graduate Degree in Engineering Sciences with corresponding basic degree (e.g. MSc in Computer Science, IT, Electronics)
In addition to the common eligibility criteria given above, candidates with the course- specific qualifications mentioned in Table 1 are ALSO ELIGIBLE for the particular courses. Minimum percentage of marks required in the qualifying examination is also stated in Table 1. The minimum percentage of marks will be considered as per the norms of the university from where the candidate has graduated.

There is no age restriction for admission to C-DAC’s PG Diploma courses. Candidates who have appeared for the final examination of their qualifying degree in 2017 will also be considered for admission to the above courses. By qualifying in C-DAC’s admission tests of December 2017, such candidates can apply for provisional admission in February 2018 batch, subject to the condition that:

  • All parts of their qualifying degree examination shall be completed by the date of joining the course, and
  • Proof of having passed the qualifying degree with at least the required minimum marks shall be submitted at C-DAC by 31 May 2018.

Important Note: Candidates are required to ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria of the courses for which they are applying. In case a candidate is found to be non-eligible during any stage of the admission process or course delivery, his/her admission will be cancelled with immediate effect. The penalty clauses as given in the section Cancellation & Refund will be applied to such candidates.

C-DAC’s Common Admission Test (C-CAT)

Admissions to all PG Diploma courses of C-DAC are done through C-DAC’s computerised Common Admission Test (C-CAT). Candidates have to apply for C-CAT online at www.cdac.in or acts.cdac.in. Every year, C-CAT is usually conducted in June (for August admissions) and December (for February admissions). Candidates who clear the December 2017 C-CAT will only be considered for admission to C-DAC’s PG Diploma courses of February 2018 batch on the basis of their C-CAT ranks and centre/course preferences.

C-CAT Schedule
C-CAT for admission to the February 2018 batch of PG Diploma courses will be held on 10 December 2017 and 17 December 2017. Candidates may choose one of these dates as per their convenience/availability while filling the online application. The tentative schedule for different test papers of C-CAT is given in Table 8.

C-CAT Examination Fee
For candidates who opt (in the online application) to use their own laptops for C-CAT, the examination fee for Category I (Section A) is Rs. 1000/-, for Category II (Sections A & B) is Rs. 1200/-, and for Category III (Sections A, B & C) is Rs. 1400/-. A computer usage charge of Rs 200 will be added to the fee if the candidate opts in the online application to use the computer of the C-CAT centre. Candidates may note that the C-CAT examination fee once paid is not refundable. C-CAT examination fee structure is illustrated in Table 10.

After filling the online C-CAT application form, the examination fee may be paid online through the ‘Make Payment step on the main menu of the online application. No cash or cheque or demand draft (DD) will be accepted towards payment of C-CAT examination fee.
