IIM Tiruchirappalli admission notification for Fellow Programme in Management – 2017

The Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) is a full time, residential doctoral programme of the Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli (IIMT). The FPM at IIMT is globally recognized, and is a premier source of rigorous, and inter-disciplinary research in all areas of business management. The programme is committed to training individuals who will excel in their areas of research through creation of quality knowledge of international standard.

FPM students will specialize in the following disciplines:

  • Economics and Public Policy
  • Finance and Accounting
  • Marketing
  • Management Information System and Information Technology
  • Organizational Behavior and Human Resources
  • Operations Management and Quantitative Techniques
  • Strategy

Duration of the Programme
Students are recommended to complete their programme in 4-5 years.

Eligibility
Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent to apply for IIMT’s Doctoral Programme:

  • A Master’s Degree in Management, with at least 60 percent marks or equivalent grade point average, with a Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification with at-least 50 percent marks obtained after a minimum of three years education.
  • A Master’s Degree in any discipline, with at least 60 percent marks or equivalent grade point average, with a Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification with at-least 50 percent marks obtained after a minimum of three years education.
  • Five year/four year Integrated Master’s Degree Programme in any discipline, with at least 60 percent marks or equivalent grade point average.
  • A professional qualification like CA, ICWA, CS.
  • A 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree with least 60 percent marks or equivalent grade point average.

Note: Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria described in points 2 to 5 must have a strong management orientation, which they should demonstrate through their managerial work experience or through their aptitude in understanding managerial issues.

AND

Have a score of CAT or GMAT or GATE* or GRE or UGC-JRF as applicable. Validity of score: Two years from the date of the test and valid as on date of submission of the FPM application. Note that the eligibility tests considered by the respective areas are given in the following table:

Monthly Stipend
FPM students in good standing will receive a monthly stipend (in addition to tuition fee waiver) for a total period of four years. The stipend is paid to cover their living expenses, books and materials, insurance and other contingency expenses. The support can be extended for six months for a maximum of two times thereafter if the student’s progress is satisfactory. The rate of stipend is Rs.30,000 p.m. till clearing the Comprehensive Qualifying Exams (CQE) and Rs.36,000 p.m. after clearing the CQE. Students usually clear the CQE in the first half of their third year in the programme.

Non-residential subsidy
No room rent will be deducted from the monthly stipend, for students availing hostel accommodation. Those who do not avail hostel accommodation, will get an additional payment of Rs 6,000/- per month towards non-residential subsidy.

Computer grant
A computer grant of Rs. 50,000 (for purchase of computer hardware and software) is available when students join the programme. Any unused amount in this grant as on March 31st of the student’s third year in the programme will be added to the conference grant.

Contingency grant
A contingency grant of Rs.30,000/- per year is allowed on a reimbursement basis for purchase of hardware, software, books, databases, data collection expenses, conference expenses and any other items directly related to the programme for a maximum of 4 years. Any unspent money of the contingency grant in one year can be carried forward to future period, as long as the student is registered in the programme.

Conference grant
The institute will support up to Rs.2,00,000/- per student during the stay as full time students for attending national and international conferences. There is no limit on the number of conferences or the locations, as long as the total expenditure is within the approved limit. If any financial support is received from conference organizers, students need to inform FPM Office and can claim reimbursement of expenses only to the extent not covered by the conference financial support.

Application Fee: Rs.500/- (No fee for SC / ST / DAP candidates. Such candidates are required to attach a copy of the relevant caste certificate with their application)

Last date for the submission of this application form is January 22, 2018 and last date for payment of the application fee is January 15, 2018.
